Social profiles such as Yelp and Google My Business are an important part of a business’ online marketing strategy on any given day. But given the current state of affairs, they’re crucial. Your Google My Business info shows on search results pages, and folks are turning to Yelp to find out what’s still open and what the latest experiences are like with a business. To help you out, here are a few of our pandemic social profile tips:
- Make sure your business hours are updated. Consumers’ nerves are already shot. There’s no need to fuel the fire by feeding them incorrect information. Yelp and Google are even offering a “temporarily closed” setting so you don’t have to mark your business closed under special hours on individual days for an extended period of time.
- Update your services and offers. Keep folks up-to-date on what’s different than usual or if you’re giving a discount on your products. This could make the difference in you getting the sale vs your competitor. And I think we can all agree that every dollar counts right now.
- Google My Business has a special “COVID 19 update” field. According to the site, you should “use the new COVID-19 post type to share more detailed and timely updates about what’s going on at your business. You can add information about closures or reduced hours, safety and hygiene practices, availability of gift cards to support your business” and more.
- Social profiles are also indexed by the search engines. And as mentioned, Google’s social profile actually shows your information directly in the search engine results pages (SERPs). So not only are you providing a service to your potential customers by keeping things updated, you’re helping your overall SEO efforts, too!
