Recently, Twitter launched one new feature and announced another. And they could be impactful for small businesses!
With the launch of “Twitter Blue”, users are able to pay a monthly fee to gain access to a range of additional tweet features and tools. Currently, the launch is only on iOS devices in Canada and Australia, but industry folks expect it to expand soon. Per Twitter’s page about Twitter Blue, among the features subscribers get are:
- Undo Tweet – Now you can review and revise your Tweet before it’s visible to your followers on Twitter! Learn more about Undo Tweet.
- Bookmark Folders – Organize your Bookmarks into folders, and easily find the saved content you want to read later.
- Reader Mode – Keep up with Twitter threads by turning them into easy-to-read, longform text. Learn more about this improved experience.
Plans were announced earlier in the year to also build out the ability for users to charge their followers for access to additional content. Called “Super Follows”, this extra content could come in the form of bonus tweets, access to a community group, a subscription to a newsletter, or a badge indicating your support. No timeline was given for the release of this feature, but since they announced it as part of “what’s next” for its platform during a presentation for analysts and investors, we’re betting it’s still on the table.
Both of these features could benefit small businesses when they’re released here in the US. The Undo Tweet feature alone could save small business owners and social media managers alike the embarrassment of a typo or error in a tweet. (Trust me – that’s a feeling in the pit of your stomach that can scar you!) The Super Follows feature could mean an additional revenue stream adding dollars to the bottom line.
