Update to Google Algorithm | SEO Tips | SEO and Social Media Maven | Stephanie Nelson | SBN Marketingpost by Stephanie Nelson

Google has confirmed that an update to their algorithm was released on March 12, 2019. Here’s what we know so far.

Google suggested that the March 2019 update was notable and worth confirming, but it was by no means the biggest update it has undertaken recently.

Like the Medic update that happened in August 2018, this update appears to be rewarding sites that follow its Expertise, Authoritativeness, Trustworthiness (E.A.T) guidelines. This was a pretty major component of the Medic update, so it’s not surprising that this has been continued/upgraded.

This update does not seem to be a complete turnaround on previous updates. Experts say it’s more of an improvement.

Google also confirmed that the March update also is not related to its neural matching efforts. (In Google’s words, “Neural matching is an AI-based system Google began using in 2018 primarily to understand how words are related to concepts…It’s like a super synonym system.”)

So what does this mean for your SEO efforts? Basically, your website focus should be around building brand trust and authority, as always. You should be creating and distributing valuable content on key topics in your area of expertise. In turn, users to be more likely to click on your site from the search results as well as spend more time on your site, both of which are well-known factors in organic ranking.
