Showing gratitude as an entrepreneur isn’t always easy. And sad to say, it isn’t always top of mind. But believe me, we entrepreneurs are grateful for more things than we typically name. As Thanksgiving approaches, here are a few things I’m grateful for.
I’m grateful to my clients. I appreciate that they stick with me and trust me to do my job. I love that when I tell them I’m going out of town, they encourage me to take a break. These awesome people are truly like an extension of my family.
I’m grateful for those clients who teach me lessons. Whether it’s reminding me that I should always trust my gut or that I shouldn’t trust digital files, even the clients I’ve parted ways with have taught me invaluable lessons that have helped me be a better businessperson.
I’m grateful to my tribe. These folks partner with me and trust me to provide services to their clients without overstepping their client relationships. These folks refer business to me when a potential client isn’t a good fit for them. These folks share my name and contact information with others they know that might need my help. Since most of them are also business owners, we share ideas and horror stories, and successes, all with no judgment.
I’m grateful for my friends. Since I work from home, they know to look for me. If I haven’t left the house much, they know when to check on me and get me out. They know to invite themselves over so that have IRL interactions, not just responding to clients’ Facebook and Instagram comments. They have no idea how important they are to my sanity.
And last but certainly not least, I’m grateful for my spouse. If I lose a client, the freak out is managed. When I gain a client, a nice celebratory outing ensues. Since they’re also a business owner, I get to bounce ideas around freely at all hours of the day and night.
What are you grateful for as we enter this holiday season?
