Things are movin’ and shakin’ at SBN Marketing, and that means changes are happening. Here’s the lowdown straight from the horse’s mouth, owner Stephanie Nelson.

The Good(ish) News

On October 1st, I began work on a HUGE project. This work is very similar to what I’ve been focused on for the last 10 years at SBN Marketing in many ways, but also a lot different in many respects. I weighed the pros and cons of taking it on for a good while, but in the end, the opportunity it presented was too good for me personally not to give it a go.

The Bad(ish) News

This project will require an enormous amount of attention on my part. As a result, I am not taking on new clients for the time being. It wouldn’t be fair to this project. It wouldn’t be fair to any new client. And it wouldn’t be fair to me.

This blog is also going to take a back burner for a bit. I LOVE sharing news and tips and tricks here! But let’s be honest.

  1. The blog takes a good amount of time to research and write and optimize each week.
  2. At the end of the day, it’s a marketing tool and a piece of our SEO strategy at its core.

Now that time is at a premium and I’m not actively trying to gain the eyes of potential clients, it only makes sense to cull the effort put here. I’ll still be posting news and tips and tricks, it will just be less frequently – likely once or twice per month instead of each week.

I’ve been asked why I don’t just hire some folks and keep things growing. For the last 10 years, I’ve purposefully and consciously kept my team small. So small, in fact, that it’s usually just me. When I started SBN Marketing, my goal was never to grow into some multi-national, multi-faceted marketing agency. The reality is, I only had two goals:

  1. Focus on what I am passionate about – using my skills and knowledge to help small businesses.
  2. Bring in enough money to be able to comfortably pay my bills.

This new project doesn’t change either of those goals. It simply gives me another way to reach them.

This is a big change, and I’m open to any questions you may have. Feel free to shoot me a note to let me know what you’re thinking. In the meantime, I’ll be seein’ ya around the interwebz!
