Finding things to be thankful for isn’t always an easy task as an entrepreneur isn’t always easy. We entrepreneurs are grateful for more things than we typically name, but that sometimes gets lost in the day-to-day stress of running a business. As Thanksgiving approaches, here are a few tricks for finding things to be grateful for.
Personally, I’m grateful for my clients. I am TIGHT with my clients; they are not just a means to make ends meet for me. I appreciate that they stick with me and trust me to do my job. I love that when I tell them I’m going out of town, they encourage me to take a break. These awesome people are truly like an extension of my family. What can you find about your clients to be grateful for?
We should all find gratitude in those clients/potential clients who teach us lessons. Whether it’s reminding me that I should always trust my gut or that I shouldn’t always trust digital files, even the clients I’ve parted ways with have taught me invaluable lessons that have helped me be a better businessperson. Who’s helped you learn a lesson, no matter how painful it was?
We should be grateful for those we’ve surrounded ourselves with help us to be better. For me, these are the folks who partner with me and trust me to provide services to their clients without overstepping their client relationships. These are the folks who refer business to me when a potential client isn’t a good fit for them. These are the folks who share my name and contact information with others they know that might need my help. Since most of them are also business owners, we share ideas, horror stories, and successes, all with no judgment. What does your professional network do that you should thank them for?
And as silly as this sounds, we should find gratitude for those who provide a service to us. Whether it’s your CPA, your copywriter, your cleaning lady, or someone you pay for another service, they have a skill and/or passion that you do not possess. They take things off your plate that you cannot do or cannot do well. That is something to be thankful for every day. Who falls in the category for you?
As the image says, enjoy the little things. Even when it’s hard, grab a gratitude journal or just a piece of paper and write down a few things that you’re thankful for, no matter how big or how small. We hope everyone enjoys their Thanksgiving and find gratitude in the day!
